Personally, I prefer a chunk over a chip. They feel more substantial in baked goods and I feel that I can actually taste the chunk when I take a bite. If you only have chips on hand, you can substitute a chip instead. Whichever you use, I do recommend using a combination of chunks (or chips) for the best flavor in your cookie recipes. Depending on your personal preference, or the person you are baking for, will dictate what combination to add in. In this recipe, I have used straight Semi-Sweet, a combination of Dark and Milk, and for this batch, I used a combination of Dark and White Chocolate Chunks. White Chocolate and Milk Chocolate tend to be on the sweeter side, which would make the cookies a bit sweeter overall, so I try to pair them with Dark or Semi-Sweet for a better balance.
